Job Summary
Bethesda Theater is looking to hire enthusiastic, dedicated, customer service-oriented individuals with experience in serving our tables. We are a dinner theater located in the heart of Bethesda and operate on our events schedule Fridays through Sundays. We host live music, performances, galas, private events, and more every weekend in our historic theater. Bethesda Theater is Black-owned and operated, so we are a diverse workplace with staff members from many different backgrounds. Working for us, servers act as the Front of House face for patrons (in conjunction with our Host team). We expect cleanliness, timeliness, and attentiveness in all areas of the job. The server team is responsible for up to 300 seated guests at tables, and an additional 200 potential guests in theater seating without tables (depending on the type of event hosted nightly). Servers are assigned sections (whether it be tables or theater seating) and are responsible for being attentive to all tables in your assigned section. Professionalism and respect are expected from all Bethesda Theater staff.

All Server Assistant Staff are responsible for, but are not limited to:

Seating memorization
Carrying trays and plates containing food and beverages
Serving food and beverages promptly and accurately
Assisting Servers with table service
Following operations procedures as given
Ensuring that the seating area of the theater is clean and ready for the next day (including: cleaning tables, moving tables and chairs if required for the next event, charging table lamps, etc.)
Filling in when necessary in emergency situations
Meeting regularly with Management to review performance
And any other duties as deemed necessary by Management

All Front of House Staff are responsible for, but are not limited to:

Greeting guests promptly upon arrival
Checking with guests to ensure they are enjoying their experience and taking action to correct any problems
Performing general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials
Standing/walking for long periods of time
Following rules, regulations and procedures, and responding appropriately to Management

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as serving staff
Knowledge of food and beverage industry
Strong communication skills
Team Player
Attention to detail, high standards of service and professionalism
Ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and able to maneuver between seated tables with grace
Flexibility to work weekend nights and holidays as needed
