You have the degree, the A+, and about a year of professional IT experience as a computer technician, help desk analyst, or desktop support specialist. What you probably don't have is a clear path forward. Most first IT jobs stop at Tier 1: the same tickets, no one teaching you anything new, and no written answer to the question "what do I have to do to move up?"

This position is built to be the next step.

We're a managed IT services company based in the Tysons/Vienna area, supporting businesses across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. since 2002. We're adding two full-time technicians to our team, and we're looking for people with a solid technical foundation, a reliable work ethic, hands-on curiosity, and the ability to grow alongside experienced professionals.

Pay & Growth

Starting salary: $42,000/year ($3,500/month)
After successful 12-month skill review: 10% increase to $46,200/year
After successful 24-month skill review: an additional 10% of starting salary, bringing total compensation to $50,400/year
After that: 3% annual salary adjustment
Written skill-development and promotion criteria provided from your first day

Certifications establish the foundation. Advancement here is based on demonstrated technical skill, reliability, performance, and professional growth.

All compensation figures are gross, pre-tax amounts.

Schedule

Monday–Friday
8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Full-time position
No scheduled on-call rotation

Our clients primarily operate during business hours, and so do we.

Evening and weekend work is rare. Occasionally, a planned project such as an equipment replacement may require after-hours work. Whenever possible, planned after-hours work is scheduled at least one week in advance.

In a true business-critical emergency, such as a client's entire system being down, team members may occasionally be asked to assist. These situations currently occur less than once per month across the team.

What You'll Do

You'll work across real business IT environments from your first week.

You'll:

Build and configure business workstations and servers
Troubleshoot Windows, hardware, software, email, printers, and common business IT issues
Support client systems remotely using professional remote monitoring and management tools
Diagnose problems, document your work, and follow established technical procedures
Join client-site visits, which make up approximately 30% of the role
Work alongside an experienced technician during your initial on-site visits
Take ownership of client visits as your skills develop
Grow toward supporting business networks, servers, firewalls, and security systems

Company vehicles are provided for client visits. You will not be expected to use your personal vehicle for client service calls.

This is not a call-center position. Every client environment is different, and the work becomes more technical as your skills grow.

Training & Mentorship

You'll have technical backup from day one.

Initially, you'll work alongside an experienced technician with more than five years of field experience. As you begin handling work independently, experienced technicians remain available for escalation, guidance, and troubleshooting support.

You'll also receive:

A dedicated one-on-one technical development session each month with a senior technician who has 24 years of industry experience
Written skill-development and promotion criteria
Clear first-six-month evaluation standards covering:
Technical accuracy
Documentation
Customer communication
Reliability
Learning speed

The goal is not simply to teach you how to close tickets. It's to develop you into a well-rounded business IT technician.

Requirements

All of the following are required:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field
CompTIA A+ certification
At least one year of professional IT experience as a computer technician, help desk analyst, desktop support specialist, or in a comparable technical support role
Full-time availability Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
Valid driver's license
Reliable commute to the Tysons/Vienna, Virginia area
Professional written and verbal English communication skills for client-facing support
Ability to pass a background check

This is a permanent, year-round, full-time position. It is not an internship, a seasonal role, or a position that can be scheduled around college classes.

Please note: the interview includes live technical questions and a hands-on troubleshooting scenario. We verify skills and experience in conversation, so please apply only if your résumé reflects work you've actually done.

Show Us Your Hands-On Experience

We want to hear about technical work you've personally done, whether on the job or on your own initiative:

Systems, servers, or network environments you've built, configured, or maintained
Workstations you've assembled, upgraded, or repaired
Networks you've designed, set up, or troubleshot
Server, virtualization, networking, or Active Directory projects you've carried out

When you apply, describe one technical problem you resolved yourself: what failed, what you investigated, and how you fixed it.

Hiring Process

Apply with your résumé.
You'll receive confirmation of your application and our expected review timeline.
Selected candidates will complete one video interview through Indeed. It opens with a few live technical questions, followed by a conversation about your experience and a hands-on troubleshooting scenario.
We'll explain the expected timeline at each stage so you know what happens next.

The technical questions are not about memorizing obscure facts. We want to see how you approach a problem, communicate your reasoning, and work toward a solution.

If you've built your first year of professional IT experience, hold the certifications to match, and are ready for a role with a written path forward, we'd like to hear from you.

Pay: $42,000.00 per year

Dental insurance
Employee assistance program
Health insurance
Paid time off
Vision insurance

A user at a client office suddenly cannot sign in to their Windows domain account, while other employees can sign in normally. The user was able to sign in yesterday. How would you troubleshoot the issue? Please explain what you would check first and how you would narrow down the cause.
Describe your hands-on technical experience in detail. This can be from your job, your own projects, or both. Tell us what systems or networks you built, configured, or troubleshot, what your role was, and walk us through one specific problem you resolved: what failed, what you checked, and how you fixed it.
