Job Summary

The Food Pantry Coordinator plays a vital part in helping the church accomplish its overall vision of helping people experience healing and new life through Jesus Christ by addressing the needs of people in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. This staff position works closely with the Food Pantry Committee, as well as with food pantry volunteers.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should be a person of faith who is outgoing, able to solve problems, and has strong communication and good interpersonal skills; being bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus but not required. The person must be able to work cooperatively with a diverse community, handle essential tasks as assigned, and demonstrate good attention to detail. They must be able to lift 30 to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Basic knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and Google Docs is required, as is a high school diploma or GED.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Work hours will include Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings, as well as Saturday Food distribution. Additional hours may be assigned by the pastor and/or the Food Pantry Committee.

· Supervise food pantry volunteers and ensure that food is properly sorted and stored.

· Supervise and assist with necessary tasks to maintain proper cleanliness in the food pantry.

· Coordination of grocery pickups, including substitute drivers, as needed.

· Assist with or place CAFB orders.

· Assist with monthly reports as needed.

· Take general Food Pantry & USDA training from Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB).

· Participate in Staff meetings, Food Pantry Committee meetings, volunteer appreciation events, and other meetings as requested by the pastor and/or the Food Pantry Committee chair.

· Manage electronic volunteer sign-ups.

· Establish effective communication with church staff, office volunteers and Food Pantry volunteers.

· Other duties as assigned.
