Seasonal Retail Sales Associate – Outdoor Holiday Markets

The Capital Candy Jar, DC’s hometown candy company, is hiring seasonal sales associates for our outdoor holiday markets in Penn Quarter and Dupont Circle!

For more than a decade, we’ve been making and selling confections from our store on Capitol Hill. We’re looking for friendly, dependable candidates with 1–2 years of retail sales experience who enjoy helping customers find the perfect holiday gifts.

This seasonal position runs from November 9 through December 23. Candidates must be available for the full season.

What you’ll do:

Welcome customers and help them choose gifts and treats.
Process purchases accurately using our point-of-sale system.
Restock shelves and keep product displays organized and inviting.
Roast and package candied nuts.
Keep the booth clean and ready for customers.

What we’re looking for:

1–2 years of retail sales experience.
A friendly, helpful attitude and confidence working independently.
Availability to work 20–40 hours per week, including weekends. The markets operate seven days a week.
Comfort working outdoors in cold weather. You’ll work in a tent and need to dress appropriately to stay warm throughout your shift.
Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
Ability to work on your feet for shifts of up to eight hours.

Dependability is essential. Our holiday season is short, and each team member plays an important role in keeping our booths running. We’ll work with you to account for existing commitments when creating the schedule. Once shifts are confirmed, we need you to commit to working your assigned schedule through December 23.

How to apply:

Please include a short message with your application telling us about your retail experience and why you’d be a good fit for our holiday market team.
