Position Title: Church Assistant
Report To: Senior Pastor
Length of Service: At Will
Anticipated Time Commitment: Minimum 10-20 hours/week; including Sunday and mid-week worship services and programs (Bible Study, revivals, programs, leadership meetings, etc.).

Position Summary

The Church Assistant serves as a spiritual, high-level administrative, and executive assistant to the Senior Pastor, providing support in managing the day-to-day operations of the church. This role ensures efficient communication, scheduling, and organizational coordination, playing a key role in maintaining the administrative functions of Walker Memorial Baptist Church. The Church Assistant must uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and spiritual leadership in all aspects of their work.

ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Pastoral Support

Provide direct administrative support to the Pastor, including writing and managing correspondence, scheduling, and meeting coordination.
Oversee daily church office operations, including handling emails, phone calls, scheduling, and sending cards/care packages.
Help prepare bulletins, visual slides, and announcements for weekly worship services (including scripture and confirming music lyrics with Music Ministry) and provide to the audio/visual and tech teams
Maintain and update church records, including membership lists, ministry teams, and official documentation.
Serve as the liaison between the Pastor and church staff, ministries, and external stakeholders as needed.
Assist in organizing and maintaining an accessible filing system for church records and historical documents.

Church Operations & Event Coordination

Facilitate and coordinate church events, leadership meetings, small groups/Bible Study, and special programs.
Ensure seamless logistical and administrative support for worship services, small groups/Bible study, and ministry activities.
Coordinate facility usage and schedule internal and external meetings as required.

Worship & Fellowship Participation

Attend and provide administrative support during:

Sunday services
Monthly Leadership Fellowship Meetings
Saturday Fellowship at Walker Outdoor Services (during the summer)
Mid-week services
In person in the administrative office, as needed

Other Duties:

Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as requested by the Pastor or church leadership to support the vision and mission at Walker Memorial Baptist Church.

Desired Qualifications/Experience

Must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and must demonstrate the reality of that relationship through their life and testimony.
Minimum 5 years of relevant executive assistance or office management experience.
Bachelor’s or master’s level degree (including MDiv), preferred.

Church Membership: Must be an active member of Walker Memorial Baptist Church or willing to join.
