What you will be working on:
This phlebotomist position works in our outpatient specialty clinic and aims to serve patients by executing the best method for obtaining biological specimens and ensuring quality specimen collection and processing. This position also works directly with the Capital Digestive Care Laboratory to ensure proper processing of all specimens collected by the practice.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Advanced knowledge of Phlebotomy protocols and safety and quality standards and regulations
· Ensures appropriate documentation is completed for all patients for all blood draws or specimen collections; including entry of appropriate charges
· Resolves unusual or unclear test orders by contacting the ordering provider; including missing orders or missing information; responds to requests for lab results and sends appropriate reports
· Understands how to operate and move between the Lab Information System (LIS) and the clinic EMR system (gGastro) and will work in both systems
· Keeps exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
· Acts as MA when Phlebotomy services are not needed
What you’ll know:
· A successful applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
· Certification in Phlebotomy and/or Medical Assistance Program preferred
· 1 year’s phlebotomist experience
· Good understanding of common blood tests, blood collection tubes, and standard venipuncture equipment, tools, and techniques
· Knowledge of EMR and medical terminology
· Bilingual preferred
· Must be a team-player with excellent multi-tasking and interpersonal skills
· Compassion for patient needs and a high degree of professionalism
