The mission of the Foundation is “to Honor, Recognize and Celebrate the men and women of the Sea Services, past, present and future, and to Inform the public about their service.” With a $5M+ annual budget, the Foundation completes our mission with a Visitor Center, 230-person Arleigh Burke Theatre, Navy Log, Ship’s Store and office spaces located adjacent to the United States USNMF (Plaza).
Nature of the Position:
The Ship’s Store Retail Associate is a combination of customer service and management operations. The Retail Associate is someone who wants to work in a fun and fast-paced environment selling our unique assortment of US USNMF products including apparel and accessories, books, gadgets, toys, souvenirs, and more. In this position, you provide our visitors with an exceptional retail experience through proactive customer engagement, product knowledge, and selling. In addition, you assist the Leadership Team with achieving sales goals, daily store operations, maintaining the sales floor and displays, stocking, and store cleanliness. This position is part-time with an average of 20 hours per week, a non-exempt position, and requires availability Sunday-Saturday.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Ship Store
- Greet and welcome customers, respond to questions and improve engagement with merchandise by handselling and providing outstanding customer service.
- Remain knowledgeable of in-stock products and those available for order.
- Collects all types of revenue, cash/credit cards/checks, and processes all transactions through Shopify POS.
- Process sales, returns, exchanges, etc.
- Knowledge of products in-store, including artisan information.
- Assist with stocking shelves, and packaging items for mail.
- Balance a cash drawer.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming store environment.
Measures of Performance
· Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales budgets.
· Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual KPIs (Avg Sales, Daily Sales, UPT).
· Positive customer feedback and customer satisfaction surveys.
· Work collaboratively with all members of the US USNMF team.
· Accuracy in utilizing Shopify POS.
· Accuracy in all aspects of cash handling.
Key Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of Retail Management experience preferred.
· A friendly and energetic personality with a customer service focus.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
· Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
· Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner.
· Ability to remain calm during an emergency in order to effectively and efficiently handle the evacuation of visitors and guests should the situation warrant.

· Physical demands:
o This position involves constant moving, talking and listening, reaching, grabbing, and standing. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background and financial responsibility check. (Required)
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. safely, and without injury.
- Navy Experience Preferred but not required.
