Work Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
What you'll do on a typical day as a Temp Medical Assistant III:
- Able to perform all responsibilities of Medical Assistant including but not limited to triage
assessment of patient for visit. Takes and records vital signs (height, weight, blood
pressure, pulse temperature, pulse ox), reason for visit and processing of pending orders
in the electronic medical record.
- Provides support for other medical assistants at the clinical station.
- Assists provider as required and performs procedures that include but not limited to:
- Complete physical, PAP, Minor Surgery, and rectal exams.
- Administering injections, giving medication as directed by the provider
including nebulizer treatments.
- Performing electrocardiograms. Applying holter monitors, BP monitor, SIBO,
PH testing, H-Pylori, Capsule study, Laryngoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Flex Sig,
EGD(unsedated), Thorosentisis, Stress Testing and other testing as required
by the department.
- Conducting vision testing
- Maintains confidentiality when interacting with providers, patients, and families.
- Provides a comfortable and safe environment for patients during their office visit by
communicating the status of their provider and step by step explanations of procedures
that will be performed.
- Identify and discard expired medication using the proper protocols.
- Cleans, stocks exam room and equipment including instruments as needed.
- Able to operate and maintain O2 per provider’s order.
- Discards sharps/biohazard materials per OSHA protocols.
- Scheduling of all types of appointments and procedures. Guides the patient through the
appointment process answering any questions they may have.
- Education and teaching for patients as instructed by the provider.
- Responds to provider / patient tasks in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Communicates information of test and lab results to patients and facilities as requested
by the provider through phone, fax, mail, or patient portal.
- Processes provider ordered referrals to specialists for patients.
- Assists in maintenance of a neat, clean, and functional clinical desk area.
- Performs other administrative and clinical tasks as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor
and Clinical Operations Manager.
- Follows protocols for emergencies in the office.
- Adheres to all practice and office policies.
What you'll need to be successful as a Temp Medical Assistant III:
- High School graduate or equivalent, additional course work or experience in the
medical field. State certification or registration is required.
- MA Certification Preferred.
- Experience in high volume.
- Familiar with Subcutaneous and Intramuscular injections.
- Able to maintain a pleasant, courteous speaking manner.
- Must have good verbal and written command of the English language and
medical terminology.
- Multi-task oriented.
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner and act quickly in
an emergency situation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to a provider’s office
setting.
