Position Overview:
The Peer Support Specialist plays a critical role within the CARAS Resilience Services Program. This full-time position is responsible for providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed support to Latino / Latina individuals facing behavioral health challenges. The Specialist will work closely with the Program Manager and various team members to ensure the successful implementation of the HEAR US grant and meet program goals by the end of the grant cycle June 2025. This position is for 6 months
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct peer support meetings and assist clients in developing recovery strategies.
Respond to client needs and facilitate links to health and wellness resources.
- Support clients with application processes for benefits and services
- Case notes - charting clients progress
. Complete and submit program reports in collaboration with the Director of Community
Development.
- Hold regular team meetings for effective program implementation and staff support
. Facilitate community outreach and connect staff to professional development opportunities.
Maintain up-to-date case notes and data collection using Excel spreadsheets.
Collaborate with the CARAS Administrative Team to ensure timely reporting to funders.
- Adapt services to fill gaps and ensure continuity of care in case of staff shortages
- Attend community forums, local collaborative meetings, and conduct outreach to clients
- Implement individualized support services aimed at promoting recovery and self-management skills.
*Conduct other agency duties / role if needed
- Driving clients to appointments if needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; relevant life experience considered
- . Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field
- . Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to develop care plans
- . Proficient in computer literacy for case management and report generation
. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of behavioral health services and substance abuse challenges
- .Experience working with Latino communities and understanding of cultural competencies
- .Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, families, and staff.
Position Reporting:
The Peer Support Specialist will report directly to the Program Manager and will closely collaborate with the Case Manager, Program Coordinator, and other team members involved in the BHRSP.
