About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Part-Time Fulfillment Assistant to support our daily fulfillment operations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our customers receive their African Ancestry DNA kits and results as part of a seamless and meaningful experience. The Fulfillment Assistant will be responsible for inventory tracking, packaging, quality control, shipping, and ensuring timely order delivery. This role includes administrative tasks (such as generating shipping labels and updating order tracking systems) and hands-on responsibilities (including picking, packing, and shipping products). The ideal candidate is meticulous, proactive, and organized, with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. A knack for process improvement and basic math/analytical skills is a plus, as is flexibility to support tasks beyond core responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Print and prepare shipping labels using online systems such as Shopify and ShipStation.
- Accurately assemble and pack customer orders in a timely manner.
- Ensure all products are labeled, protected, and shipped according to company standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized fulfillment space and accurate inventory of supplies.
- Update tracking numbers and shipping statuses in African Ancestry’s internal systems.
- Partner with the customer service team to fulfill special shipping requests.
- Assist with regular inventory counts, restocking, and light organizing duties.
Who You Are
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in shipping, fulfillment, or warehouse operations is a plus - - but we’re happy to train the right candidate!
- Familiarity with e-commerce and shipping platforms such as Shopify or ShipStation (preferred).
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and follow-through.
- Comfortable using basic technology, including web-based systems and label printers.
- Able to lift up to 15 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Brings a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and can thrive independently and in a team setting.
- Has reliable transportation for commuting to and from the work site.
