Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Bartender to join our Ugly Dumpling team at our Fairfax, VA location! The Bartender will be responsible for preparing and serving drinks to guests, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. This role requires a strong knowledge of beverages, excellent communication, and multitasking abilities to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drink Preparation: Prepare and serve a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
- Customer Service: Greet guests at the bar, take drink orders, and offer suggestions based on guest preferences. Engage in conversation and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Menu Knowledge: Be familiar with the drink menu, including cocktails, beer, wine, and any daily or seasonal specials. Understand food pairings and offer recommendations when requested.
- Cleanliness and Safety: Ensure the bar is kept clean and sanitized at all times. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards, including proper handling of glassware and bar tools.
- Mixology Skills: Keep up-to-date with new drink trends and mixology techniques, offering creative and innovative cocktail ideas for the menu.
- Payment Processing: Process guest payments accurately through the POS system, handle cash and credit transactions, and provide change when necessary.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the serving staff and kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and a seamless experience for all guests.
- Responsible Alcohol Service: Monitor guest consumption of alcohol, ensuring responsible service and complying with local alcohol laws and regulations.
- Problem Resolution: Address guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.
Requirements:
- Experience: Prior bartending experience in a full-service restaurant or bar is required.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages, cocktail recipes, and mixology techniques. Understanding of local alcohol laws and regulations.
- Skills: Excellent communication, customer service, and multitasking skills. Ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, move quickly, and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Certification: Bartending or mixology certification is a plus, as well as responsible alcohol service certification (e.g., TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol).
- Availability: Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
