The Facilities Assistant supports the daily operations of the Washington, DC Office by maintaining and preparing office spaces in accordance with established standards. This role ensures a safe, functional, and welcoming environment across all office floors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct daily walkthroughs of each floor to identify and document maintenance needs; address urgent issues immediately.

Identify and report problems requiring external services (e.g., carpet cleaning, furniture/appliance repair); coordinate vendor visits and ensure satisfactory completion of work.

Report lighting, plumbing, and electrical issues to Property Management.

Complete and maintain records for daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checklists.

Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance, vendor coordination, and compliance with life safety standards.

Prepare office space for new hires, including furniture setup, carpet cleaning, painting, nameplates, and key distribution.

Manage office departures by removing nameplates, cleaning spaces, collecting keys, and securing offices.

Coordinate interoffice moves and act as liaison between internal clients and service providers.

Collaborate with building management on janitorial, maintenance, and HVAC issues.

Assist with furniture placement, wall repairs, and hanging artwork.

Set up and break down conference rooms; provide support and additional seating as needed.

Provide support to the Northern Virginia office on site as requested.

Serve as a Crisis Manager.

Maintain inventory of tools, paint, and commonly used supplies.

Manage surplus furniture inventory.

Perform patching and painting tasks as needed.

Support special projects and complete assigned tasks; communicate any issues that may impact project completion.

Assist Office Services, Floor Attendants, and Administrative Assistant as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Prior experience in facilities or moving services is helpful but not required.

Strong communication skills and organized.
-
Ability to troubleshoot and take ownership of tasks.

Capable of following written instructions and providing clear directions.

Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Good judgment in prioritizing tasks and responding to urgent needs.

Physical stamina to lift and move heavy objects (up to 100 lbs), including furniture and ladders; must be able to stand for extended periods.
OTHER:
-
Work schedule will be 7.5 hours per day, scheduled between 10:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The role covers a 150,000 sq. ft. facility requiring daily attention across all floors.

Minimal desk work: most tasks are hands-on and physically active.

Occasional overtime may be required to meet operational priorities.

Pay Transparency Range:
Washington, DC: The anticipated full-time annualized salary range $55,000 - $65,000.
The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
