The Principal is responsible for serving as the instructional and adminsitrative leader of the school and assumes the major role in directing and evaluating the school's programs and activities. The Principal is responsible for establishing a climat which is responsvie to the needs of students, staff, doc and the MD Department of Labor.
This position duties consist of but not limited to the following:
Instructional Leadership: Promote the development, implementation and assessment of the curriculum. Create an effective school improvement plan. Promote the professional growth of staff.
Program Management: Organize and manage the daily operation of the school. Use personnel and resources to maximize program. Promote a positive school climate.
Data Management: Collect, analyze and disseminate accurate school data to support established performance outcomes.
Special Education: Chair IEP meetings. Monitor the delivery of special education instruction and services. Monitor special education record keeping. Coordinate special education services with DLLR and DPSCS to ensure a legally sufficient special education program.
Ancillary Programs: Develop, organize and monitor programming that supplements the school program.
Education: Possession of appropriate educational credentials as determined by the Maryland State Board of Education.
Experience: Experience providing classroom instruction to students.

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Supervisory experience and the credentials;
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of school administration;
- Knowledge of academic curriculum planning, development, and implementation;
- Knowledge of principles and practices of effective middle, secondary, and GED programs, as well as occupational, library and transition service.
Applicants must possess a current Maryland Administrator II and/or Principal Certification.
A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT MARYLAND STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (MSDE) CERTIFICATE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION
Knowledge of the principles and practices of school administration; knowledge of academic curriculum planning, development, and implementation; knowledge of principles and practices of effective middle, secondary, and GED programs, as well as occupational, library and transition services; skill in the development of effective work teams; ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employees in this classification are subject to Substance Abuse Testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. All potential applicants shall be screened for security purposes prior to being offered a position. This screening is a routine procedure for all employees required to work in State Correctional Institutions and shall consist of fingerprinting, credit check and background investigation by the Maryland State Police. Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act is required. MD Dept of Labor Correctional Education Program operates in Maryland state correctional facilities in partnership with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS). As an employee of this Program, you must strictly adhere to the DPSCS’s Standards of Conduct and Internal Administrative Disciplinary Process. Any violation of those standards may subject you to DPSCS disciplinary measures, including the barring of your entry from State correctional facilities. Should this occur, MD Dept of Labor may then remove you from your position and, if there are no comparable positions available for which you are qualified and from which you have not been barred, your employment may be terminated.
