Capital Women's Care is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. The Medical Assistant/Front Desk Receptionist is a dual role combining clinical support and administrative responsibilities to ensure smooth office operations. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide compassionate service in a fast-paced environment, while creating a warm and friendly atmosphere where all patients feel welcomed like an old friend.
Responsibilities
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Prepare exam rooms with appropriate supplies; clean and restock between patient visits.
- Obtain and document patient history, vital signs, and reason for visit.
- Assist providers during exams and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; administer injections and perform phlebotomy as required.
- Educate patients on reproductive health, prenatal care, contraception, and other topics as directed.
- Accurately document all patient care in the EHR and relay provider orders.
- Maintain adequate inventory of clinical supplies and place orders as needed.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
Front Desk Duties:
- Greet, check-in, and checkout patients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments and follow-ups according to provider protocols.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and account balances; reconcile daily payments.
- Enter and update patient demographics, insurance information, and other pertinent data in the EHR system.
- Answer and triage phone calls; monitor voicemails and division inboxes; respond promptly to patient inquiries.
- Coordinate and track referrals; process medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, faxes, and deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare or clinical office; OB/GYN experience preferred.
- Proficient in EMR systems and medical terminology.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and providing exceptional service.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:30am-3:00pm or 8:30pm-4:00pm
