Job Summary
The Medical Assistant performs routine front and back office duties for multispecialty exams and a variety of
clients, to include reception of examinees, answering phones, performing data entry in electronic health record
(EHR) and case management systems, exam report reconciliation, appointment scheduling, and assisting in the
examination process of examinees under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. The Medical
Assistant interviews examinees, measures vital signs and records information on examinees' charts, draws and
collects blood samples from examinees, prepares specimens for laboratory analysis, and conducts a variety of
diagnostic tests. Supports the organization in meeting operational goals and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- With supervision and guidance, perform routine procedures to prepare examinee for provider
exam to include obtaining and documentation of medical history, recording of vital signs and
preparation of required lab/X- Ray/diagnostic requisitions; assist provider with exams as
required to include performance of chaperone duty
- Perform standard diagnostic procedures accurately, efficiently, and with the highest quality
- Prepare and dispense/administer medications as ordered and verified by provider
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly equipment end user calibration/inspections as required
- Perform various inventory activities per policy and procedure
- Enter and retrieve data test results and other documents via EHR, case management system, and
other proprietary systems
- Perform front office duties such as: answering telephones, preparing schedules,
scheduling and confirming appointments, examinee check in and out, and document
filing with supervision and guidance
- Perform data entry and basic review of exam documents for accuracy to include grammar
and spelling
- Document and escalate abnormal exam findings, test results and data omissions according to
workflow for correction
- Perform housekeeping functions such as: changing exam room table paper, disinfecting surfaces,
upkeep and tidiness of the entire clinic (exam rooms, bathrooms, waiting area, front office, lab room,
etc.), ensuring all equipment is clean and presentable
- Assist with performance of routine safety and compliance audit activities
- Ability to travel infrequently (5%) for training and clinic support
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Competencies:
- Clinical competencies including but not limited to accurate manual and electronic measurement
of vital signs, venipuncture, immunizations/injections, administering EKG, spirometry, and vision
and hearing screens for occupational health customers
- Knowledge of sterile technique, and how to don, doff, and store N95 mask in order to pass a
respiratory fit test
- Successful annual clinical skills competency demonstration and written knowledge assessments
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify mistakes or inconsistencies in medical reports and
clinical diagnostic tests
- Sound verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and its applications
- Knowledge of EHR/EMR and MS Office Suite software applications
- Ability to organize and execute multiple tasks with a high sense of urgency andfollow-through

Education and/or Experience: (includes certificate & licenses)
- High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
- Associate degree in Medical Assisting and/or graduation from an accredited vocational
Medical Assistant program, and/or military equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification/Registration required
- Must meet state certification requirements, if applicable
- 1 to 6+ years of medical assistant experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers certification required
- Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) Certification or the ability to successfully
complete certification within 90 days of notification
- Ability to earn and maintain clinical training/certifications as required by current and future contracts
- Technology-driven medical data entry system experience or related computer data entry
- Must be able and willing to complete annual Respiratory Fit testing and properly wear organizational
standard respiratory protective equipment as required
- Valid state driver’s license preferred
- Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation

Pay: $22.50 - $27.00 per hour
