This program helps individuals and families in the county understand their health insurance options and enroll in coverage through the Maryland Health Connection.In this role, you’ll support community events, connect with residents, distribute materials, and help raise awareness about health coverage resources.Key Responsibilities
- Attend and support community events, fairs, and health-related outreach opportunities.
- Share information about available health insurance programs in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Support the planning and promotion of outreach activities and enrollment events.
- Collaborate with local partners (schools, clinics, churches, etc.) to increase program visibility.
- Distribute flyers, brochures, and outreach materials in a variety of public settings.
- Maintain outreach calendars, record participation data, and report activity updates to the team.
- Assist with updating social media, flyers, or community announcements as needed.
- Ensure information is provided in a culturally appropriate and language-accessible format.
- May help set up and break down booths or tables at events and assist with logistics.
- Support general office and program tasks related to outreach coordination.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; some college or community-focused coursework preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in outreach, customer service, health education, or community work
- Strong communication skills with comfort engaging the public in person and virtually
- Organized, punctual, and reliable with attention to detail
- Willing and able to work nights and weekends as needed
- Access to reliable transportation for travel within Montgomery County
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (especially Spanish, French, Amharic, or Mandarin) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Montgomery County and its communities
- Experience with health programs, ACA, Medicaid, or health fairs is a plus
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and data tracking tools
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during events
- Must be able to lift and transport event materials (up to 25 lbs)
- Some local travel required
