Job Title: Union Apprentice Plumber
Compensation: $52,000 – $60,000 annually
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
Union: 32BJ
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Union Apprentice Plumber to support plumbing operations across a large university campus. This hands-on role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of plumbing systems while working alongside experienced technicians. The position focuses on preventative maintenance and assisting with repairs to ensure the safe and reliable operation of critical building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with performing preventative maintenance (PM) on plumbing systems, including backflow preventers, sump pumps, lift stations, water heaters, and related equipment.
- Support senior plumbers with troubleshooting and repairs of plumbing components and fixtures.
- Help monitor system performance and report any issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
- Document work performed and ensure proper follow-up for scheduled maintenance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, building codes, and union requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently and professionally.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in or eligibility for a plumbing apprenticeship program.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing systems and mechanical equipment.
- Willingness to learn and work under the guidance of experienced professionals.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work evening shifts independently and as part of a team.
- Must be a member of, or eligible to join, the 32BJ Union.
Work Environment:
This position involves working throughout campus facilities, performing preventative maintenance and assisting with plumbing repairs. Physical activity is required, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
