Food Service Assistant (Preschool)

Responsibilities:

- Prepare, serve and deliver breakfast, lunch and snack to classrooms (the population served is approx. 16 infants/toddlers, and 180 preschoolers each day).
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies
- Follow Virginia Dept. of Health food safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring that the kitchen is consistently in compliance with food handling, serving and storage at all times.
- Maintains record of refrigerator and freezer temperatures each day.

-Must be reliable and work 7 am - 3 pm Monday thru Friday (no nights! no weekends!)

Qualification Requirements and Skills:

- Must be able to communicate in English in written and verbal form; bilingual is a plus, but not required.
- Must currently possess a valid Food Service Handler or Kitchen Manager certification; must keep certification current (employer pays for re-certification after 6 months of successful employment.
- Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in food preparation and ability to handle multiple tasks. Must be able to work efficiently and independently when required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. of food and supplies; must be able to reach, stoop, bend, stand and walk for long periods during the workday.
- Must successfully pass a VA/FBI and Child Abuse/Central Registry background checks - and submit a TB Screening prior to employment.

-Experience in working in a school setting is preferred.
