Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist / Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role is crucial in providing exceptional patient service and administrative support within our medical office. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiarity with medical billing and coding practices will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic calendar effectively.
- Handle multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear communication and excellent phone etiquette.
- Collect patient information, including insurance details, and verify eligibility.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with documentation review and ensure completeness of patient files.
- Process medical billing and coding using CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 standards.
- Support the healthcare team by preparing care plans and managing medical collections.
- Provide administrative support including filing, typing, and data entry using Microsoft Office applications.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a medical or dental office is preferred.
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix is advantageous.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and coding practices (CPT/ICD).
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction.
