Job Title: Medical Assistant (Part-Time)

Neurology Clinic of Maryland is a leading provider of comprehensive neurological care in the Columbia area. We are seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team.
Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant will support our neurologists and clinical staff by performing both administrative and clinical duties. This role involves direct patient interaction, assisting with neurological procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will be organized, empathetic, and committed to providing excellent patient care.
This role is for part time Monday-Thursday 8a-4p (2 days of the week 8a-4p)
This role is great for students in the Gap year who are interested in PA schools or Medical schools!
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and prepare patients for neurological consults and procedures such as EMGs
- Record patient medical history, symptoms, and vital signs
- Assist physicians during neurological assessments and diagnostic tests
- Schedule patient appointments and manage follow-up communications
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR)
- Ensure exam rooms and equipment are clean, stocked, and compliant with safety standards
- Provide patient education regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals as needed
- Able to understand insurances and prior authorizations
- Be able to speak with pharmacies and PCPs regarding medications, referrals, and procedures
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (AAMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred but not required
- Minimum of 0-1 years’ experience in a medical office, neurology experience a plus
- Proficiency with EHR systems and basic computer applications
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/CPR is a plus
