Job Description
The LAYC Career Academy is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant Pathway Instructor. The Medical Assistant Pathway is a technical career program that prepares students for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Medical Administrative Assistant Certification (CMAA), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), Certified EKG Technician (CET), Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS), and Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS) certifications. The incumbent will oversee the instructional process of all Medical Assistant (MA) students, track the academic progress of students, and coordinate their tests and externships.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrates the ability to support and engage older youth and young adults (ages 16–30) who are navigating a range of personal and life challenges.
- Develops, plans, and delivers engaging lessons in medical assisting theory and clinical/laboratory procedures.
- Conducts evaluations to assess student progress in areas such as anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, clinical skills, administrative tasks, and healthcare law/ethics.
- Possesses excellent teaching skills and the ability to intervene when learners fall behind their peers academically
- Demonstrates and supervises hands-on skills, such as vital signs, immunizations, EKGs, Phlebotomy, and patient communication.
- Exhibits classroom management, maintains a positive learning environment, and adheres to program policies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of personalized learning in adult education and provides individualized support and constructive feedback to students.
- Serves as instructor for courses and its laboratories to students in the Medical Assistant modules
- Assists in the creation of curriculum and curriculum guides.
- Collaborates with colleagues to evaluate and revise curricula. Builds strong, professional relationships with students
- Refers students for academic interventions, counseling, or other available support services
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in healthcare or related field
- Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA, CMA, RMA or equivalent credential)
- At least a year of experience working in a clinical capacity as a nurse, doctor, medical assistant or in another healthcare profession
- Outstanding organization and time management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Compensation
LAYC Career Academy utilizes a transparent compensation system that is based on each employee’s years of relevant experience. The salary starts at $66,825 with additional compensation based on years of experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $66,825.00 - $122,610.51 per year
