Lead Medical Assistant Job Description
RESPONSIBILITES:
This position requires clinical and administrative duties that include but are not limited to:
Clinical Duties
Accurately perform initial vital signs for patients including manual blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, temperature, peak flow, measuring height and neck/head circumference, and blood sugar monitoring, immediately reporting abnormal values to the provider
Perform routine laboratory office tests including rapid strep, urinalysis, and urine pregnancy testing
Performing routine phlebotomy draws and preparing specimens for the laboratory
Competent in obtaining a routine EKG including accurate lead placement and determining if the copy is appropriate and legible for the provider
Confident in administering and managing immunizations with both adults and pediatric patients
Maintain exam rooms, inventory and lab equipment.
Administrative Duties
Covering the front desk as necessary, creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for each client that presents to the office despite the busy demands of the day
Appropriately obtaining all necessary information to complete the office visit and file the insurance claim. Careful attention to detail necessary
Completing accurate registration information in the electronic medical records. Updating records with each client encounter
Initiating necessary calls or website inquiries to verify insurance coverage and provider participation in the plan; updating medical record with any changes
Collecting patient copays and payments.
Generating referrals and clinical order forms (home sleep study, IUD, Cologuard, etc.) for patients as requested by the provider
Attending monthly Clinical Staff meetings providing briefings on clinic flow, supply use and demand
Willingness to attend personal and professional development programs sponsored or supported by the office
Maintaining yearly HIPAA, OSHA, and CPR training
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Medical office, 1 year preferred, pediatric experience desired outside of externship
Education:
High School diploma
Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program
