Reports to: Office Manager/Psychiatrist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our private psychiatry practice. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care, support our psychiatric professionals, and ensure the efficient operation of our office. This role requires a combination of clinical and administrative duties to support the delivery of mental health services.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare patients for examination, including taking vital signs and obtaining medical histories.
- Assist the psychiatrist during patient examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the psychiatrist.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and prepare specimens for laboratory transport.
- Educate patients on medication management, treatment plans, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the psychiatrist’s calendar.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and handle patient intake and registration.
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process insurance claims, verify patient insurance information, and handle billing inquiries.
- Order and maintain medical supplies and office inventory.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments with other healthcare providers as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a psychiatry or mental health setting.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with psychiatric patient care and familiarity with common mental health conditions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and psychiatric medications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
