Retail Paint Store Assistant Manager

We are a locally owned Benjamin Moore dealer with 11 locations, and we are looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to help support daily store operations while continuing to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on at the counter, building relationships with customers and contractors, and is ready to take the next step into leadership. The Assistant Manager works closely with the Store Manager and is being developed to eventually handle all aspects of store operations.
This is a 40-hour-per-week position with hourly pay and optional benefits.
Store Hours
- Monday to Friday: 7am to 5pm
- Saturday: 8am to 12pm
- Sunday: Closed
What You Will Do:
Customer Service and Sales
- Greet every customer with positive energy and genuine engagement
- Take customer orders at the counter and accurately enter them into the POS system
- Mix and shake paint, sometimes in large quantities, while ensuring accuracy and quality
- Help customers with paint, stain, color selection, sundries, and basic color matching
- Recommend additional products that support the customer’s project
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail customers and contractors
- Use our CRM system to log interactions, follow up on opportunities, and support customer growth
Store Operations
- Prepare orders, label gallons, box products, and stage materials for pickup or delivery
- Help maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and overall appearance
- Assist with inventory control, receiving, stocking, and cycle counts
- Answer phones and email inquiries
- Occasionally drive a company vehicle for deliveries or store transfers
Leadership and Support
- Support the Store Manager with daily operations and task delegation
- Help train and coach sales associates on product knowledge, customer service, and store procedures
- Step into a leadership role during the Manager’s absence
- Help ensure store standards, safety practices, and company policies are followed
- Communicate effectively with the Store Manager, team members, and outside sales reps
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
- Ability to stand and move for most of the shift
- Availability to work some Saturdays
- Must be bilingual and speak both English and Spanish fluently
- Prior retail or paint industry experience preferred
- Leadership or key-holder experience is a plus

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
