Overview:
To provide administrative support services to the Office of Space and Building Management (OSMB) at the Department of Commerce (DOC).
Background:
The Office of Space and building Management provides a variety of facility support and infrastructure management services to the Department of Commerce, enabling the operating units to achieve their strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
This position follows clearly detailed specific procedures in completing several repetitive clerical steps performed in a prescribed or slightly varied sequence, such as coding and filing documents in an extensive alphabetical file; could involve simple posting to individual accounts, opening mail, calculating and posting charges to departmental accounts, operating basic office equipment, e.g., photocopier, facsimile, multi-line phone/voicemail systems, mailing machines, and minimal computer programs.

Answer phone calls, emails, and routine questions, while forwarding complex queries or requests to appropriate OSBM employees.

Plan and schedule meetings and appointments.

Create spreadsheets.

Compose correspondence.
- Manage databases.

Review correspondence composed by other OSBM employees to ensure proper grammar and punctuation before forwarding.
- Organize and maintain office files.

Receive and disseminate information to OSBM employees.

Perform other routine clerical duties.
Qualifications:
Approximately 1 to 4 years of experience.
Education:
Qualifications commensurate with a HS diploma (or equivalent).
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $20.91- $29.52 per hour. Compensation will be discussed in greater detail with candidates who advance in the interview process, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of qualifications and alignment with role requirements.
Compensation Disclaimer:
The salary range provided for this position represents a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined at the Company’s discretion based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, geographic location, and contract requirements. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
Location and Work Hours:
This position is 100% on-site and requires daily reporting to the following location:
Department of Commerce
1401 Constitution Ave. NW Washington, DC 20230.
This role is not eligible for remote or telework arrangements. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the worksite and be able to reliably report on-site as required.
This position follows a standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. Employees are expected to be available during core business hours of 8:30am - 5.00 pm EST, with additional working hours scheduled outside of core hours as needed to fulfill the full work schedule.
The candidate must currently reside within commutable distance to the work location.
