Montgomery Parks is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional Facility Manager to oversee the Wheaton Sports Pavilion and the Wheaton Miniature Train Station and Carousel. The Facility Manager will oversee the Wheaton Miniature Train Station and Carousel and the Wheaton Sports Pavilion. This position will manage the daily operations, camps, programs, rentals, and special events at the Wheaton Sports Pavilion– a covered synthetic turf field lined for field sports such as soccer and lacrosse. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
What the job will involve: Manages the daily facility operations of the Wheaton Train & Carousel and Wheaton Sports Pavilion.Helps develop and implement long-term goals and operational procedures (e.g. hours, rules, safety, etc.).Oversees programming (camps, programs, rentals, and special events) at Wheaton Sports Pavilion and Miniature Train. Review and approve instructor payments. Conduct research to identify trends or seek information that would be useful to develop programs and evaluate them. Assist with program registrations for camps and programs at the Wheaton Sports Pavilion.Supervises designated staff. Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates seasonal staff to assist with operations, camps, and programs. Ensure all staff receive various training (CPR/First Aid; Defensive Driving; Customer Service; Youth Camp Standards, etc.). Conducts performance appraisals.Coordinates schedules for facility rentals, parties, and camps at the Wheaton Train & Carousel and Wheaton Sports Pavilion.Manages customer service activities at the facilities. Set a positive example for employees ensuring customers are treated in a prompt, professional, respectful manner.Prepares budget formulation of the Wheaton Train & Carousel and Wheaton Sports Pavilion regarding projected revenues and expenditures. Responsible for regularly monitoring revenues and expenditures within approved budget and reporting them to Management. Prepare financial reports and recommendations of fees. Coordinates maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as cash reports (collects and deposits revenues); records facility inventory (tools, office supplies, resale, etc.); approves staff timecards; documents maintenance needs and staff schedules.Works on project planning and facility improvements.Assists with marketing the facility. Works with marketing staff to promote facilities and amenities through various media outlets, including social media (Facebook, websites); assists with preparation of marketing materials such as brochures and flyers. Review and monitor facility websites for needed changes and updates by the marketing department.Coordinates annual safety inspections to ensure the Wheaton Miniature Train & Carousel complies with Maryland Amusement Ride Regulations (DLLR).Important Skills and Characteristics: Ability to effectively communicate and lead a team of people.Ability to synthesize data and transform it into coherent strategic work plans.Demonstrate ability to manage complex problems.Superb written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in office software (MS Office), software for planning, scheduling, communicating (email), word processing, collecting and reporting data, preparing presentations, and researching information.Proven ability to approach and interact with people of all backgrounds and the ability to think collaboratively with various members of the organization.Comprehensive knowledge of recreational facility management, safety and health regulations, budgeting principles, program and special event planning, procurement practices, cash handling, etc.

Class Specification: Recreation/Park Facility Manager I - 1857May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.Working Conditions: Works inside and outside an assigned facility which may operate seven days per week. Works extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. On-call to respond to emergency situations as required.
