1:1 Direct Services Staff (Foster Care Youth)

Position Summary
The 1:1 Direct Services Staff provides individualized, one-on-one support to foster care youth to promote safety, stability, emotional regulation, and skill development. This position utilizes trauma-informed care, crisis prevention strategies, and positive youth engagement practices while supporting treatment goals and service plans established by the interdisciplinary care team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct 1:1 supervision and support to foster care youth in home, community, and approved program settings.
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of youth at all times in accordance with agency policies and Maryland state regulations.
- Implement individualized service plans, behavioral support strategies, and crisis prevention interventions.
- Assist youth with activities of daily living, emotional regulation, social development, and executive functioning skills.
- Utilize trauma-informed and youth-centered approaches when supporting youth with behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs.
- Intervene appropriately during behavioral crises using approved and certified crisis intervention techniques.
- Support youth during medical appointments, recreational activities, educational activities, and community outings as assigned.
- Accurately complete service documentation, progress notes, and incident reports in compliance with agency standards and state requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors, case managers, foster parents, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all mandated reporting, child welfare, and HIPAA requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Successfully pass State and Federal criminal background checks, Child Protective Services (CPS) and child welfare history screening, including fingerprinting through the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS).
- Meet applicable education and experience requirements as required by Maryland regulations and agency standards.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- Ability to physically intervene when necessary in accordance with approved crisis management training and agency policy.
Required Training and Certifications
Prior to providing any direct services, staff must successfully complete training and certification in the following areas:
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Safe Crisis Management (SCM)
- Medication Management (as applicable to assigned duties)
- First Aid and CPR

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 – 12.0 per week
