This is a Part-time, long-term position. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for selling floor care products and services and assisting customers with their product needs. The sales associate will provide an exemplary customer experience by asking the customer questions to determine their needs and engaging the customer with their product knowledge, suggestive selling items for the customer's immediate needs and recommending additional items and services. The Sales Associate handles returns of merchandise and store merchandising, stocking and maintenance activities, assists the store in achieving its' daily, monthly and annual sales and service/repair goals. The Sales Associate will perform related work as required.
Essential Job Functions and Expectations of Employment
- Acknowledge and greet the customers who are within a close (10 ft.) radius or 10 seconds of arriving where the associate is working.
- Engage the customer through conversation. Determine the customer's needs.
- Discuss type, quality and number of merchandise required for purchase.
- Provide demos of merchandise
- Explain and provide product knowledge to customers through the features, values and benefits of each product presented to them.
- Recommend merchandise based on individual requirements and preferences
- Suggestively sell additional items and services that the customer may not have anticipated they will
- Advise customers on utilization and care of merchandise
- Provide advice to customers regarding particular products or services
- Suggest usage of Company programs and services with each applicable sale
- Answer customers' queries and concerns professionally
- Handle returns/complaints graciously and effectively.
- Work with associates to achieve Store's sales plan. Strive to achieve individual sales plan.
- Actively participate in all programs and procedures that drive sales.
- Work with other store associates to achieve a high score through excellent customer service, product knowledge and follow through.
- Know where products are located within the store.
- Be aware of current promotional items and the correct pricing.
- Follow-up and make sure the returns and refunds are in process and complete
- Treat associates, customers and vendors in a professional manner
- Quote prices and discounts as well as trade-ins, warranties and delivery dates
- Handle check-in for repair and service of vacuum cleaners
- Input notes regarding their repair, service and special order parts.
- Learn how to diagnose a vacuum issue and estimate a repair and service.
- Be able to make accurate register transactions such as: cash, checks and credit cards when access to POS system is provided.
- Keep the store neat, clean and organized throughout each business day, including bathroom and the back room.
- Maintain sales records and assist in the bi-weekly inventory control
- Assist with entering of inventory in the system assigning a SKU number to each item before organizing and distributing the shipments.
- Assist in displaying and organizing of inventory
Additional Job Functions
- Participate in store opening and closing duties.
- Answer the telephone within three rings.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience
1 year or more of vacuums or home appliances sales experience is preferred.
A minimum of high school education is required for this position. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work a standard workday as set by Store Manager. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted. Must be proficient in English. Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned.
* Pay commensurable with proven experience.
