Event Driver Job Description
Reports to: Operations Director
Job Overview:
The Event Driver is responsible for transporting event decor, furniture, and equipment to and from event sites using vehicles under 26,000 lbs (non-CDL). This role involves loading and unloading trucks, ensuring safe transport, and assisting with setup and breakdown of materials on site. The ideal candidate is punctual, professional, and experienced in logistics and customer service.
Core Responsibilities:
- Drive company vehicles (under 26,000 lbs) to local and out-of-town event locations.
- Load and unload event equipment, furniture, and decor materials in a safe and organized manner.
- Secure all items properly for transport to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure safety and maintenance standards are met.
- Follow assigned schedules, and delivery and pick up protocols as directed by supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, onsite crews, and event managers.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of decor and materials as needed on job sites.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and equipment.
- Complete necessary delivery and trip documentation accurately and timely.
- Follow all safety and traffic and DOT laws while driving and operating company vehicles.
- Follow All Company rules and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Driving Proficiency: Ability to operate Non-CDL vehicles, including Sprinter vans, 16’ box trucks, and 26’ box trucks.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of box truck experience, including navigating dense city environments.
- Logistics Knowledge: Proven experience handling freight and implementing proper load securement techniques.
- Availability: Must be able to work non-standard hours, including weekends, evenings, or extended shifts based on the event production schedule.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in diverse settings, including both indoor warehouses and outdoor event sites.
Physical & Compliance Requirements
- Physical Agility: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and safely climb ladders or navigate loading ramps.
- Safety Standards: Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and local/state fire and safety codes.
- Certification: Must possess (or be able to obtain) a valid DOT Medical Card.
- Technical Skill: Demonstrated experience in the manual loading and unloading of specialized equipment or freight.
Work Schedule
- Standard Hours: Typically 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Event-Based Flexibility: This role requires a high degree of flexibility. Hours will shift based on event needs.
- Compensation: Comp time is provided for hours worked beyond the standard schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $25-$30/hr, commensurate with experience.
