Role Overview
The Assistant Kitchen Manager is a key support role for the Kitchen Manager at Paragon Theaters, a company known for in‑theater dining. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high‑volume, fast‑paced setting and wants to develop leadership and operational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support: Assist in planning and organizing daily kitchen operations, including opening, mid‑shift, and closing activities.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise kitchen staff, coordinate tasks, and ensure efficient workflow while maintaining quality standards.
- Food Quality & Safety: Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to meet company quality standards; ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Training & Development: Train kitchen staff on cooking techniques, procedures, and safety protocols; support mentoring and cross‑training initiatives.
- Inventory & Procurement: Monitor inventory levels, assist in ordering supplies, and maintain proper stock rotation.
- Problem Solving: Help resolve kitchen‑related issues and conflicts among staff.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, payroll, performance evaluations, and other kitchen‑related administrative tasks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Kitchen Manager to create and update menu items and support marketing efforts.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or in a similar role.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Proficiency with kitchen equipment and tools.
- Commitment to maintaining high‑quality food standards and fostering a positive kitchen culture.
Work Environment
Paragon Theater kitchens operate in a fast‑paced, high‑volume hospitality setting, often with peak service during movie showings. The Assistant Kitchen Manager will work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Job Requirements:
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in kitchen or culinary operations.
- Minimum of 3 years of kitchen management experience in a casual-dining environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Ability to obtain required food safety certifications (e.g., ServSafe).
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, twist, and bend for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
