Job Summary:
EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a General Maintenance Worker in Washington, DC. The initial work schedule is: Tuesday through Saturday 3:00pm to 11:00pm. Must be able to work other shift schedules as well. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Crafts personnel in minor building maintenance tasks. These tasks include but are not limited to: making minor adjustment and repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sewage systems; architectural and structural building components; interior and exterior entrance doors; all door locks, windows, floors systems, roof systems, roof gutters, downspouts, window and floor coverings.

Performing some minor preventive maintenance functions while under supervision, such as but not limited to changing filters; cleaning cooler towers, heating and cooling coils; cleaning floor drains, grease traps, roof gutters, downspouts; and changing fluorescent tubes and other light bulbs where needed.

Replace ceiling tiles and make necessary and minor carpentry repairs as needed.

Empty drip pans throughout the facility.

Perform snow removal

Performs other duties as required or directed by the shift lead or manager on duty.
Qualifications:
- Three to five years’ experience in the operation of central plant equipment, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and/or electronic systems.

Experience & proven ability to safely secure electrical systems for maintenance.

Basic carpentry skills.

Basic knowledge of operation of building auxiliary systems i.e. fire-life safety, stand by emergency generators.

Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations

Be able to understand written and oral instructions to perform the work required.

Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects and perform other physically demanding tasks.

Safely and skillfully use all types of related hand and power tools.

- Work Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 75lbs)
