About Battleground Kitchen
Battleground Kitchen is a hosted cooking competition experience for regular people. Think high-energy team cooking challenge, not a cooking class. We run private in-home events, corporate team-building competitions, and partner venue events where guests cook, compete, laugh, strategize, and present dishes to judges.
We are looking for a reliable, energetic, hospitality-minded assistant who can grow with the company. This role will begin as event support, but the long-term goal is to train the right person to eventually help host and lead Battleground Kitchen events.
About the Role
This is a hands-on event role that blends hospitality, crowd management, organization, setup, cleanup, and live event energy. You will work directly with the founder to help prepare, set up, run, and break down Battleground Kitchen events.
The right person should be comfortable in a kitchen, comfortable around people, and genuinely excited by the idea of helping build a growing experiential food business from the ground up.
This is a great opportunity for someone who loves food, events, competition, hospitality, and hosting, and who wants to learn how to run immersive culinary experiences.
What You’ll Do
***This is not a prep cook or back-of-house role. This is a guest-facing event position for someone who can be trained into a polished, confident host. Early responsibilities will include event setup, food prep support, and assisting the lead host, but the long-term expectation is that this person can lead Battleground Kitchen events independently and manage the guest experience from start to finish.***
- Assist with event setup, including stations, ingredients, pantry displays, equipment, signage, judging areas, and guest flow
- Help prep and organize ingredients and cookware before and during events
- Support contestants during cooking rounds with basic cooking guidance, equipment help, timing reminders, and station organization
- Help keep the event moving by tracking time, communicating instructions, and assisting with transitions between rounds
- Engage with guests in a warm, confident, energetic way
- Support the host during rules explanations, judging, twists, team challenges, and event flow
- Help maintain cleanliness throughout the event, including dishes, counters, floors, trash, and reset areas
- Assist with breakdown and packing at the end of the event
- Learn Battleground Kitchen’s formats, systems, timing, judging structure, and hosting style
- Over time, train toward becoming a lead event host
Who You Are
- You are reliable, punctual, and organized
- You have a big, warm personality and are comfortable engaging with groups
- You enjoy cooking and know your way around a kitchen
- You can stay calm and useful when things get busy or chaotic
- You are comfortable giving basic cooking help without taking over someone else’s dish
- You have strong hospitality instincts and notice what needs to be done before being asked
- You are not afraid of dishes, trash, spills, heavy bins, or detailed cleanup
- You can read a room and adjust your energy accordingly
- You are a team player with no ego about the less glamorous parts of events
- You are interested in growing with a young company and potentially becoming an event host
Helpful Experience
Restaurant, catering, events, hospitality, culinary, teaching, coaching, theater, improv, camp counseling, or team-building experience is a plus.
You do not need to be a professional chef, but you should be a proficient home cook or someone with real kitchen experience. You should understand basic knife skills, sautéing, seasoning, timing, plating, food safety, and how to keep a station organized.
***Experience with social media, photography, videography, short-form content, or capturing live event moments is a huge plus. We are looking for someone who can help recognize and document the energy, food, competition, and behind-the-scenes moments that make Battleground Kitchen unique.***

Ideal Fit
This role is ideal for someone who might say:
“I love cooking, I love hosting, I love being around people, and I’d be excited to help build something from the early stages.”
