Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi and sashimi with precision, artistry, and consistency, adhering to traditional techniques and recipes.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders during busy service hours.
- Monitor ingredient freshness and manage inventory levels to minimize waste while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Assist in developing new sushi menu items that reflect current culinary trends and customer preferences.
- Educate team members on proper sushi preparation techniques and presentation standards.
- Uphold all food safety protocols, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of sushi ingredients, knife skills, and presentation techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Knowledge of health codes, safety standards, and sanitation practices related to food preparation.
- Creative mindset with an eye for aesthetics and innovation in dish presentation.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Candidates with additional skills such as culinary experience in other cuisines, classroom management or teaching experience related to cooking classes, or familiarity with food photography are highly valued. A background in early childhood education or childcare is a plus for roles involving training or mentoring junior staff. Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
