Position Title: Referral Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary
The Referral Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining referral relationships within the community to increase awareness of services offered by Walkway to Healing. This position serves as a liaison between the treatment program and external organizations including hospitals, behavioral health providers, courts, probation offices, social service agencies, shelters, medical providers, and community organizations.
The Outreach Coordinator will actively market services, build professional partnerships, support admissions growth, and promote the organization’s mission through ethical, trauma-informed, and community-centered engagement.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunity Outreach & Relationship Development
- Build and maintain referral relationships with:
- Hospitals and emergency departments
- Detox and residential treatment centers
- Mental health providers
- Probation and parole offices
- Drug courts
- Homeless shelters
- Social service agencies
- Community organizations
- Primary care and specialty medical offices
- Conduct in-person outreach visits and presentations to referral sources.
- Represent the organization at networking events, health fairs, recovery events, and community meetings.
- Develop and distribute marketing materials and program information.
- Maintain regular communication with referral partners to strengthen professional relationships.
Admissions & Referral Coordination
- Respond promptly to incoming referrals and inquiries.
- Educate referral sources and prospective clients on levels of care and program eligibility.
- Coordinate with admissions and clinical staff regarding referral appropriateness.
- Track referral outcomes and maintain outreach activity logs.
- Assist with insurance verification coordination and intake scheduling when necessary.
- Follow up with referral partners regarding admissions status while maintaining confidentiality regulations.
Marketing & Program Growth
- Identify opportunities to expand referral networks and increase census.
- Assist leadership with outreach strategies and business development initiatives.
- Support social media and community awareness campaigns when requested.
- Help maintain a positive public image of the organization within the community.
- Monitor local community needs and identify partnership opportunities.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Adhere to all company policies, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct during all outreach activities.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
- Complete required documentation related to outreach activities and referrals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, human services, behavioral health, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in outreach, admissions, behavioral health, healthcare marketing, or community engagement preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in substance use disorder treatment or behavioral health settings.
- Knowledge of community resources and referral systems.
- Experience with CRM systems or EHR platforms.
- Public speaking and presentation experience preferred.

Work Environment
This position requires frequent local travel for outreach visits, networking, and community engagement activities. Work may occur in office settings, healthcare facilities, community agencies, and recovery-focused environments.
Schedule Expectations
- Monday–Friday schedule preferred.
- Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for outreach events and community activities.

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
