Loudoun Medical Group (LMG), one of the largest and most diverse physician-owned, multi-specialty group practices in Virginia, has an exciting employment opportunity for Full-Time experienced Certified Medical Assistant to support a busy Family practice in Sterling, VA.
General Medical Assistant responsibilities include:
- Brings patients back (adults/Peds) to exam rooms and prepares patients for physicians by obtaining accurate medical history, vital signs and other necessary clinical information.
- Administers medications and injections per physician orders.
- Performs triage through appropriate communication and documentation.
- Prepares specimens to send out to reference labs in accordance with laboratory guidelines and insurance plan requirements.
- Reports lab results back to patients. Works with physicians to ensure timely receipt and reporting of results.
- Assists physicians with discharge instructions and necessary patient follow-up and education. Includes calling in prescriptions into pharmacies when necessary.
- Assists in management of patient records electronically.
- Prepares rooms for procedures – ensures proper functioning of medical equipment and maintains adequate stock of supplies.
- Ensure exam rooms are cleaned between patients and at the end of the day.
- Works with front office staff when clinical information is required to coordinate insurance referrals and authorizations.
- Provides support to front office staff when requested.
- Works with Office Manager and/or physician(s) to develop and implement clinical policies and procedures in accordance with internal and external regulations and guidelines.
- Works with other personnel in office to achieve department objectives.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
Job Requirements:
- High School degree or equivalent
- Must have at least 1-2 years experience as a medical assistant
- Must have experience working at the front desk of a medical practice
- Must possess exceptional customer service skills
- Must have strong clinical skills
- Must be able to work independently and on a team
- Must have problem solving skills
- EMR experience preferred (Pulse and/or ECW)
- Experience with inventory/stocking medical supplies
- Professional demeanor
- Bilingual a plus
