Job Overview
Watergate at Landmark (WAL) is a Luxury high-rise condominium community in Alexandria’s West End. WAL is looking to fill full-time Facilities Maintenance multi-tasking positions in our Facilities and Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate will multitask job tasks as a maintenance technician, painter, and grounds person. As a painter, the candidate will be performing necessary drywall repairs, painting in common areas, and individual resident units as a result of leaks or floods and assisting the Maintenance staff as directed by their immediate supervisor. Maintaining the general grounds’ appearance, regular inspections of property, keeping the ground free of weather-related litter, and keeping the walkways clear of leaves, snow, branches, and debris during inclement weather, as well as working on special projects such as seasonal decorations.
Duties
- Prepare outdoor surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and filling holes, line striping or imperfections.
- Apply paint, varnish, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Restore and maintain existing painted surfaces to ensure longevity and aesthetic appeal.
- Collaborate with other painters on repair projects, including fixture installation and trim carpentry, drywall repair.
- Assist maintenance team with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general residential maintenance upkeep to optimize equipment.
- Assist with handyman work.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for various tasks related to painting and carpentry.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment throughout the project duration.
- Assist in property maintenance estimating by providing input on material needs and project timelines.
- Visual property inspection for clearing debris, examining exterior areas for maintenance and observation of needed repairs.
Skills
- Must be dependable and maintain a positive attendance record
- Able to safely balance on ladders or other structures
- Be able to work occasional OT, weekends, and holidays
- Must be available on rotating on-call for emergency responses (floods, leaks, elevator traps, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Condo/property maintenance/painting experience is a plus
- Knowledge of painting techniques, tools and materials, maintaining commercial building maintenance
- OSHA compliance experience and/or certifications are a plus
- Follow workplace safety rules and work independently
- Drive snowplows during inclement weather
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- Candidate must have a valid Driver’s license
- High school graduate or equivalent GED preferred
- Preferred 2-5 years’ experience with Basic Maintenance of building equipment, lighting, mechanicals, plumbing, door locks, etc.
- Experience with groundskeeping, painting, and drywall is a plus.
- Experience with outdoor painting tools and materials, and Attention to meticulous details
- Basic knowledge of and ability to properly select and effectively use ladders, and handheld power tools such as drills, saws, drain snakes, etc., while performing duties
