$20 to $24 an hour. Salary based on experience.
Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the daily operations of the flooring warehouse by assisting with inventory management, shipping and receiving, order fulfillment, fleet coordination, safety compliance, and warehouse staff supervision. This role helps ensure flooring materials, installation supplies, and customer orders are accurately received, stored, and distributed while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations

Assist in overseeing daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, staging, and shipping of flooring products and installation materials.

Ensure orders are accurately pulled, packaged, and prepared for delivery or customer pickup.

Monitor warehouse workflow and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.

Assist with scheduling and coordinating warehouse personnel to meet operational demands.

Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness standards.
Inventory Management

Assist with inventory control processes, including cycle counts and physical inventories.

Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies, damages, shortages, or overages.

Ensure proper storage and handling of hardwood, laminate, vinyl, carpet, tile, and related installation products.

Research and resolve inventory variances in a timely manner.
Team Leadership

Provide daily guidance and direction to warehouse associates, forklift operators, and delivery personnel.

Assist with employee training on warehouse procedures, equipment operation, safety requirements, and company policies.

Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.

Participate in employee performance evaluations and coaching efforts.
Shipping, Receiving, and Distribution

Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.

Coordinate outbound deliveries and route schedules to ensure timely service.

Work closely with purchasing, sales, installation, and customer service teams to ensure product availability and order accuracy.

Assist in resolving shipping, receiving, and delivery issues.
Safety and Compliance

Enforce OSHA, company safety policies, and warehouse operating procedures.

Conduct regular safety inspections and identify corrective actions.

Ensure proper operation and maintenance of forklifts and warehouse equipment.

Promote safe material handling practices and accident prevention.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance

Assist in monitoring warehouse equipment and reporting maintenance needs.

Help maintain facility security and ensure compliance with company procedures.

Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed for repairs or maintenance.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
-
High school diploma or GED required.

3-5 years of warehouse experience required.

Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Experience in flooring, building materials, construction supply, or a related industry is highly preferred.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.

Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of heavier materials with assistance.
