About Maxim Biomedical:
Maxim Biomedical is a family-led, U.S.-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for in vitro diagnostics — the rapid tests and laboratory assays used to detect and monitor disease. From our ISO 13485-certified, FDA-registered facility in Rockville, Maryland, we’ve spent more than 20 years building diagnostic products for Fortune 100 partners, emerging innovators, and national health programs including NIH RADx, the Department of Defense, and HHS. As our contract manufacturing work grows, we’re expanding our production team — and that’s where you come in.
About the Role:
As a Production Technician, you’ll be hands-on building the diagnostic tests that clinicians and patients rely on — assembling lateral flow tests and small components, and pouching, labeling, and kitting finished products in our cleanroom as part of a small, close-knit team. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians and scientists who’ll train you on our processes, and you’ll have a clear path to grow your skills, responsibility, and pay as you gain experience. If you take pride in precise, careful work and want to see the real-world impact of what you make, you’ll fit right in.
What You'll Do:
- Assemble small plastic parts, lateral flow test strips, and cassettes, and put together finished kits, following our standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Pouch, label, and package components and finished products.
- Perform a variety of hand-assembly operations at a lab bench, adhering to our quality requirements and executed SOPs.
- Gown and work within our ISO-classified cleanrooms and dry rooms, following hygiene and contamination-control practices — up to 80–100% of the day at a bench or in the cleanroom/dry room.
- Work within Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements, and record your work as required.
- Perform repetitive-motion assembly tasks (hands, wrists, and fingers) with precision.
- Set up, stock, and clean your work area.
- Cross-train across assembly stations and product lines to broaden your skills over time.
- Communicate any issues or quality concerns to your supervisor.
What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Excellent fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for repetitive assembly.
- Keen attention to detail, and able to carefully follow verbal and written instructions.
- Good time management and strong organizational skills to meet production expectations.
- Able to communicate issues and problems to supervisors.
- Reliable and punctual, and able to work independently or within a team.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in manufacturing, assembly, a laboratory, or a cleanroom setting.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO 13485, or FDA-regulated production.
- Exposure to lateral flow or medical device assembly.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- This is an on-site role at our Rockville, MD facility, performed in ISO-classified cleanrooms and dry rooms that require gowning and contamination-control practices; up to 80–100% of the day is spent at a lab bench or in the cleanroom/dry room.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive fine-motor tasks, up to a full shift.
- Physically mobile, with reasonable accommodation, including the ability to walk, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand.
- Able to lift 25 lbs unassisted.
Schedule:
- Part-time, in person at our Rockville, MD facility.
- Flexible Monday to Friday availability
- 3-5 Days Per Week (12-20 Hours/week)
Compensation:
Pay range: $18.00–$21.00 per hour. Where you start in the range reflects your experience, and there is room to grow with tenure and cross-training.
