Property Overview:
Hilton Arlington Rosslyn at The Key – A newly built hotel located in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, VA. It is currently under construction and is slated to open in Fall 2025. It features 331 guest rooms, 30,000 sq. ft. of event and meeting space, a lobby bar, a grab-and-go market Proudly Serving Starbucks coffee, and a third-party destination restaurant on-site.
Job Overview:
As the Director of Food and Beverage, you will direct and organize the activities of the catering and banquet department (for all events, meetings, and functions), the grab-and-go market, and the lobby bar. You will maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, service and marketing to maximize profits through outstanding customer service. Owned and operated independently by Dittmar Company, an independent franchisee, the hotel functions separately from Hilton Hotels and Resorts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for short- and long-term planning and the management of the Food and Beverage operations in the front and back of the house
- Plan and direct the administration and ordering of Food & Beverage outlets to meet the daily needs of the operation
- Establish S.O.P.’s, policies, and best practices for the hotel outlets
- Develop sales and catering menus within Hilton’s brand standards
- Partner with the Sales Department to review all F+B minimums and selling guidelines.
- Monitor, develop, and implement schedules for the operation of the banquet/catering department (FOH and BOH), grab and go, and lobby bar
- Participate with the chef and sales managers in the creation and merchandising of attractive menu designs to attract a predetermined customer market
- Implement effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs among all sub-departments and monitor the food and beverage budget to ensure efficient operation and that expenditures stay within budget limitations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses
- Assist the department managers in establishing and achieving predetermined profit objectives and desired standards of quality food, service, cleanliness, merchandising, and promotions.
- Maximize food and beverage department profitability
- Investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints
- Develop, along with assistance from department heads, operating tools necessary and incidental to modern management principles such as budgeting, forecasting, purchase specifications, recipes, portion specifications, menu abstracts, food production control, job descriptions, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all Hilton policies and procedures, brand standards that relate to food and beverage, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Hire, train, supervise, develop, discipline, and counsel all food and beverage team members according to Hilton policies and procedures.
- Complete required brand trainings and stay up to date on brand requirements
- Follow all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
- College degree or relevant experience
- Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Strong negotiation skills
- Minimum 5 years proven hotel director of food and beverage experience, demonstrating proven creative thinking and result-driven leadership skills
- High work ethic and self-motivated
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands
- Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
- ServSafe and Tips certified
- Hilton experience preferred
- Other duties as assigned by the general manager and above property management team
