Duties

Serves as project officer for discretionary grants and support contract work, including reviewing proposals and monitoring grantee/contractor compliance with grant/contract requirements.

Collaborates with the Office of Grants Management and other offices in the management of grants and contracts.

Maintains awareness and understanding of the Older Americans Act and its holistic application to health and wellness topics such as falls prevention, chronic disease self-management education (CDSME), and nutrition.

Coordinates with the National Nutritionist and office staff to review, analyze, and provide feedback to regional offices, state staff, Title VI grantees, AAAs, and local service providers on the implementation of the OAA Health Promotion and Nutrition Program.

Assists in the development of various technical assistance and training materials, either directly or through contracts and grants, to support comprehensive service delivery systems for older adults.

Identifies policy issues and makes recommendations for policy modifications to support the development and delivery of health and wellness and evidence-based programs for older Americans.

Monitors assigned projects, evaluating goals, strategy, expectations, and the project's potential for larger-scale replication, considering cultural, linguistic, and social factors.

Acts as a subject matter expert for various offices, providing insights on data, reports, evaluations, research, budget assessments, etc.

Assists in the development of Federal regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines related to falls prevention, chronic disease prevention, and nutrition services.

Represents agency at national or regional conferences, public or private agencies, and private sector organizations as a speaker or resource person.

Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):
A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts)
B. Possess a combination of education and experience - that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript)
C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Specialized Experience:
GS-13: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following:

Managing grants or contracts, including monitoring of performance, and/or oversight within a human or social service organization;

Developing and/or maintaining relationships with other agencies and individuals seeking information about health and wellness programs;

Communicating, consulting, evaluating, and negotiating effectively, oral and written, in a clear concise manner to present and prepare programmatic responses to various audiences.
