BOP Case Manager

The Case Manager works under the supervision of the Facility Director and uses counseling skills and therapeutic knowledge to establish the necessary treatment and case management practices for the individual residents.

Parameters of the Position

The case Manager works within the rehabilitative framework designed by the Facility Director that includes, but is not limited to:

individual and group counseling;
specialized habilitation methods;
use of community resources and
resident management, accountability and control;

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Case Manager is responsible for:

Carrying a caseload of up to thirty (30) residents;
Completing Individualized Program Plan (IPP) for residents, within ten (10) calendar days, with assistance from the Social Services Coordinator (SSC) and the Employment Placement Specialist (EPS);
Conducting residents' initial orientation to the program and assuring their understanding and complying of the rules and expectations of the program on a continuous basis;
Completing the Texas Christian University (TCU) assessment tool to prepare program plans for re-entry;
Utilizing individual counseling to develop resident release plans and monitoring the development of that plan;
Effectively manage resident schedules to include printing and distribution, per contract sources;
Performing duties related to resident disciplinary procedures as directed;
Conducting Life Skills Enhancement classes on a weekly basis;
Setting-up residents on Electronic Monitoring (EM) system, through VeriTracks programing software, activating and placing the EM units on the residents;
Performing several tasks on the R3M system, such as receiving and releasing residents, completing term reports, entering all movements, furloughs, etc. and have been entered by the contract source;
Keeping accurate case notes and preparing case reports in a timely fashion;
Participating in any training programs that enhance counseling, case management, life/safety, and administrative skills;
Developing and maintaining relationships with appropriate social service and employment placement agencies;
Assisting in the planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, accountability and leading of resident and operational programs;
Developing a plan to involve residents in productive activities such as volunteer work or community service, in collaboration with the SSC and EPS, to minimize the amount of idle time;
Collection resources, demographic and research data as directed;
May be required to conduct field and home visits/contacts of residents, and their families, up to one hundred (100) miles from the facility;
Testifying in court as required;
Learning to effectively utilize the SecurManage system to maintain electronic records, i.e. case notes, assessments program plans, termination reports, etc.;
Performing other duties as assigned;

Education and Qualification

The CM must possess a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, social work, psychology, or a related field profession from an accredited college or university. At a minimum, at least two (2) years of relevant human services experience is required. Work experience may be substituted for academic education. Must be familiar with the area surrounding the facility, and willing to travel up to one hundred (100) miles, each way from the office. Must be highly skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel and display the ability to format and create documents, reports and charts independently. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record and a reliable method of transportation.

Clearance

Employees assigned to this position, must satisfy all requirements under the contracts with applicable federal state and local government agencies. All employees must pass an NCIC criminal record background check, after conditional offer of employment. Each employee will be fingerprinted by the Bureau of Prisons staff and/or a designee, and is subject to investigation. All staff must be COVID vaccinated.
