Lead Technician - Data Center Solutions
Onsite: commuting around Northern Virginia (NOVA)
Contract

Pay: $28hr

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Data Center Solutions Lead Technician to support a short-term preventative maintenance inspection project at our Fortune 10 Hyperscale Cloud Services client's data centers in the NOVA region. Over approximately four weeks beginning in November, small teams will perform standardized inspections on server lift equipment across a large number of sites, helping maintain the reliability, safety, and performance of the client's facilities. As the on-site team leader, you will perform inspections alongside your team while owning the daily execution of field operations, serving as the primary point of accountability for team performance, inspection quality, daily reporting, and client-facing communication at the site level.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, detail-driven professional with a proven track record of leading technical teams in fast-paced, physically demanding environments. This role offers the opportunity to step into a hands-on leadership capacity on a high-visibility engagement within world-class data centers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 2–3 years of relevant hands-on experience in data center, preventative maintenance, equipment inspection, field service, or a related technical trade, including time in a lead or supervisory capacity; high school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications a plus.
Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around mechanical and electrical equipment; proficient with hand tools and able to follow printed inspection manuals, checklists, and technical documentation with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to lead a field team including task delegation, attendance and performance accountability, and conflict resolution; strong communication skills with comfort interfacing directly with client contacts and project leadership.
Able to lift 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and work in elevated temperatures (90–120°F); comfortable in confined spaces.
Strong written documentation skills and comfort using a mobile application to review schedules and submit reports; reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel daily between multiple sites across Northern Virginia.
Ability to pass a thorough background check, which is required to obtain client site access.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Own on-site execution and serve as the primary point of accountability for team performance, inspection quality, and schedule adherence.
Manage daily team operations including task assignments, site-to-site travel coordination, attendance, briefings, and real-time problem-solving in response to field conditions.
Interface directly with client contacts regarding daily scope, site access, escalations, and project status; communicate proactively with Brooksource project leadership.
Perform standardized preventative maintenance inspections on server lift equipment alongside your team, following printed inspection manuals and checklists; ensure all work meets client specifications and quality standards.
Maintain accurate documentation including handwritten notes, asset and serial numbers, and inspection findings; confirm all team members submit complete digital reports through the project mobile application by the end of each workday.
Enforce safe tool usage, sustain a clean and organized work environment, and hold yourself and teammates accountable to quality and safety standards.
Identify and escalate access issues, unavailable lifts, lift-count or inventory discrepancies, and safety concerns to client contacts and project leadership in a timely manner; document deficiencies rather than performing out-of-scope repairs.

EXPECTATIONS

Serve as the on-site culture carrier — modeling professionalism, safety, and accountability for the entire team at all times.
Strict adherence to all client data center security protocols and PPE requirements is mandatory; PPE will be provided, though personal composite toe footwear is encouraged. Mobile devices are not permitted in the areas where equipment is located.
Flexibility required for client-mandated restricted or blocked workdays due to holidays or operational events, including a blocked period around Thanksgiving; these will be communicated with as much notice as possible and are unpaid.
When applicable, lead a mobile, schedule-driven small team rotating between multiple data center sites, spending variable time at each location; scheduling is geographically optimized to minimize travel.
Commit to the full project duration and adapt to evolving project requirements, site conditions, and client priorities while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
