Job Description:

General Description:
This position will assist Trades Tech with general installations, minor maintenance and repairs. This position will assist with repairs of some electrical and carpentry to include drywall work on campus buildings.

Duties and Tasks:

Assisting Trades Technician with minor installations, maintenance and repairs of plumbing fixtures, systems, equipment, and the fire extinguisher program on campus.
Assist with ordering of equipment, parts, and supplies.
To include snow removal and any other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.
Perform minor maintenance work, assist with troubleshooting and repairs as described above
Support emergency operations.

Special Assignments:

May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Minimum Qualifications:

KSAs:

Knowledge of aspects of heating and plumbing operations.
Knowledge of building systems and facilities maintenance.
Ability to function in close quarters, or cramped environment.
Ability to work on general maintenance equipment.
Ability to work in hot and cold weather for extended periods of time.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to perform manual labor and to lift 75 pounds when needed
Ability to work at heights using ladders
Basic computer skills including Microsoft office suite.
Detail Oriented.
Strong mechanical skills.
Skilled in the use of general maintenance tools and equipment
Possesses critical thinking skills.
Possesses good physical strength.
Possesses good communication skills.
Team Player

Required Qualifications:

Participated in a high school trades program
Experience and/or training in preventive maintenance.
Valid Virginia driver’s license and good driving record.

Additional Considerations:

Experience performing building trades work.
