Wonder Years Pediatrics is looking for a Medical Assistant / Front Desk to work as part of our growing medical team in providing pediatric medical services. This ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in pediatric clinic policies, procedures and standards and able to work under the supervision. The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, with occasional rotating Saturdays.

Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities
- Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values: Actively represent and support the mission, vision, and core values of Wonder Years Pediatrics, ensuring alignment with the clinic's overall objectives.
- Clinical and Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive clinical and administrative assistance to providers, patients, and office operations to ensure smooth and effective workflows.
- Ensure Efficient Patient Flow: Oversee the coordination of patient visits to maintain a safe, timely, and efficient flow through the clinic.
- Professional and Courteous Front Desk Reception: Greet all visitors, employees, and families with a friendly, respectful, and professional demeanor to create a welcoming environment.
- Telephone Management: Answer front desk calls, screen and route them appropriately, take detailed messages, and relay information promptly to ensure seamless communication.
- Patient Intake and Medical History: Obtain and document patient medical histories, vital signs, and other necessary intake information to support accurate treatment planning.
- Maintain Clean and Stocked Exam Rooms: Ensure that exam rooms are always clean, organized, and equipped with the necessary supplies as per physicians’ needs and practice protocols.
- Data Entry and Monitoring Systems: Accurately enter data related to vaccines, medications, and other monitored items into tracking systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Supply and Equipment Management: Prepare, organize, and maintain clinical supplies and equipment for treatment, ensuring availability and proper functioning.
- Administer Immunizations and Injections: Prepare and administer immunizations, injections, and other prescribed treatments in accordance with provider instructions.
- Perform Preventative and Diagnostic Testing: Conduct screenings such as hearing and vision tests, and complete mental health assessments like the PHQ-9 and other-directed assessments.
- Additional Clinical Duties: Perform other clinical tasks as directed by the healthcare providers, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.
- Lab Preparation and Sample Management: Perform in-house laboratory tests and ensure proper handling and preparation of samples to be sent to LabCorp or Quest for analysis.
- Adhere to Safety Protocols: Practice and adhere to standard safety protocols and precautions to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
- Direct Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, including taking measurements, administering immunizations, performing nebulizer treatments, and other in-office diagnostic tests.
- Collaboration with Clinic Staff: Foster positive, collaborative relationships with clinic staff to ensure a supportive and efficient work environment.
- Respect and Compassion: Treat all patients and their families with the utmost respect, dignity, and compassion, ensuring a positive healthcare experience.
- Provider Assistance: Assist providers in performing medical procedures and other tasks as needed, contributing to the overall success of patient care delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Prior Experience: At least 1 year of verified experience as a Medical Assistant, demonstrating proficiency in clinical and administrative tasks in a healthcare setting.
- Laboratory Skills: Proficient in performing various laboratory tests, including nasal swabs and heel sticks, with a strong understanding of proper sample collection and handling techniques.
- Multitasking and Time Management: Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Child and Family Interaction: A genuine passion for working with children and families, with the ability to create a fun and positive atmosphere during patient visits to ensure comfort and trust.
- Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients and families, ensuring clear understanding and high-quality care.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Medical Assistant Training: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program, ensuring a solid foundation in both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
- CPR/BSL Certification: A valid CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required, with the ability to maintain certification every two years to ensure preparedness in emergency situations.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
