Cavalier Courier & Process Service (Cavalier) is now seeking a part-time Field Operations Assistant (Process Server) to join our team! Starting pay is $17.25/hour. We are looking to hire for late afternoon into evening shift and weekend shifts hours.
We are a legal support service company based in northern Virginia and Coastal Virginia. We ensure the successful delivery of thousands of legal documents every month, in the DC metro area, and nationwide. With multiple federal and state government contracts, in addition to hundreds of law firm clients, Cavalier offers a fast-paced work environment for motivated employees.
The ideal candidate is an adaptable team player with a strong work ethic and can-do attitude. They enjoy being on the road for many hours of the day. They should be prepared to think on their feet in stressful and time-sensitive environments, and communicate clearly with sometimes unfriendly parties. We are looking for someone who can exercise strong judgment, keen observation, and street smarts to discern the truth while interacting with individuals from all walks of life. To be successful in this position, you must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. You must also be very aware of timeliness and be able to grow in knowledge of prioritization.
Responsibilities
- Serving summonses, subpoenas, and other legal documents in connection with on-going court cases
- Collecting information about defendants in the field to determine their whereabouts
- Retrieving records and filing motions, affidavits, and other legal documents in court
- Delivering legal documents to law firms
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Authorized to work in the United States
- MUST drive their own vehicle
- Willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement
- Own a smartphone with unlimited/high cap high speed data and relatively tech-savvy
- Strong written and verbal communication skill
- Cautious and confident on the road
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in legal, operations, and/or customer service roles
- Prior experience in a role which requires driving
- Minimum traffic violations or at-fault accidents
We will train promising candidates in all it takes to be successful in this position.
Applicants MUST drive their own car during their shift. We reimburse at least half (currently all) of the miles at the federal rate (currently $0.70/mile).
This position is in-person only. Remote work is not available. This is not a full time role therefore is not eligible for Health and Dental insurance.
As stated, pay starts at $17.25/hour, with opportunity for upward advancement for dedicated team members. This role is eligible for quarterly performance bonuses after the first 90 days working.
