Position Summary:
Facilities Worker, Day Porter is part of the operations team at Briya Public Charter School — a leading two-generation education program serving parents and their young children in Washington, D.C. Briya is a Tier One Public Charter School, consistently achieving the highest educational outcomes through its innovative, family-centric programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Maintains supplies in bathrooms, kitchens, lobby, offices, classrooms, and reception area
- Dusts furniture, fixtures, and equipment in offices, classrooms, hallways, and lobby
- Dusts and mop floor of entire facility
- Cleans/dusts vents, fan fixtures, tops of windows, doorframes and other high areas using a ladder.
- Polishes and clean fixtures in bathrooms
- Collects and disposes of trash and recycling
- Keeps work areas neat and orderly
Qualifications
To perform these services successfully, an Facilities Worker must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
- 1-3 years of related experience
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be multitask oriented
- Should have knowledge of workplace safety procedures and OSHA.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish and English strongly preferred
Physical Demands – Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work Environment – Mostly in a typical office/school setting with quiet to moderate noise level. Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. May be exposed to potentially hazardous blood-borne/respiratory pathogens and bodily fluids which require the practice of Universal Precaution procedures.
