WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Program is currently recruiting for an highly organized and focused professional with knowledge emergency response planning and experience in warehouse and inventory management. The position supports a variety of activities, including, but not limited to, training, exercises and drills, as well as, managing medical materiel and movement of equipment and supplies. As part of a public health response team, activities, when necessary, include, initiatives focused on set-up and staffing emergency command and control, supporting infrastructure in the Public Health Command Center and County Emergency Operations Center, receipt and distribution of medical countermeasures, equipment, and/or supplies to various clinics or points of dispensing.

What You'll Be Doing

The Emergency Management Specialist I position supports ongoing objectives around public health emergency preparedness and response through a broad array of activities. Preparedness and response efforts include:

Knowledge in development, maintenance, and operationalization of inventory management systems, policies and procedures, and related equipment or materiel, including knowledge in organizing supplies and supporting movement of materiel during a response.
Knowledge in development and implementation of preparedness plans, development and coordination of logistics capabilities and participation in meetings to expand relationships with partners on shared preparedness objectives.
Experience in support of trainings and exercises program for public health emergency capabilities, including logistics support of training and exercises and regular internal activation drills.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Some (two (2) years) of applicable experience in emergency management and/or public safety plans and practices; disaster recovery; hazard mitigation; exercise planning and coordination.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited or university in such fields as emergency management, public safety, public administration, or a related field.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

We will use interview preference criteria:

Knowledge of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), and Medical Countermeasures Programs
Experience working in a public health emergency response, including a command center.
Knowledge of CDC Public Health Capabilities, NIMS and Incident Command Systems
Knowledge in inventory management systems, policies and procedures, and related equipment or materiel.
Practical use of Incident Command Systems and use during exercises or real-world emergencies.
