The Employment Assistant, under the general supervision of the Workforce Program Manager and under the direct supervision of the Manager, is responsible for providing resources and referrals to families. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining documentation and completing agency assessments, case plans, and other forms as necessary. S/he is also responsible for providing outreach services that employ prevention and intervention techniques. Assist with establishing relationships with employment partners.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Case Management – Identifies and articulates critical issues confronting the family. Review intake summary/case plan in collaboration with direct supervisor and in peer case review to determine appropriate courses of action(s). Assist with orientation into the program. Maintains documentation of interactions among family members. Assists family in applying for resources and coordinates Family Group Conferences (FGC) as needed. Refers family for family meetings as appropriate.
Documentation- Ensure that all documentation is uploaded timely in the Empowor database. Assist with the collection of employment retention records.
Outreach – When necessary, assists and directs clients to appropriate or necessary service(s) including, e.g. Medicaid, Social Security & TANF.
Resource and Referral – Investigate resources in the community to meet needs of clients. Maintains a current and up-to-date listing of all community-based programs, schools, civic associations, churches, and businesses to assist clients in obtaining food, clothing, housing, employment, furniture etc. Maintains working relationships with outside agencies to promote the work of CSC, to be aware of community issues that may affect clients, and to advocate client services.
Job Readiness –Planning and implementing workshops, assisting clients with resume development and interview skills. Provide emergency coverage to ensure support is available when clients are in need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of community resources; possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; and have a basic to intermediate familiarity with Microsoft products. Bi-lingual a plus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience in community-based social services or related field such as child development, family relations, and/or behavioral health, or college degree with one year of experience in community-based social services or related field.
