Internal Medicine practice in Silver Spring, MD is currently seeking a full time, bilingual (English and Spanish) Medical Scribe/Clinical Assistant. Applicant must have an interest in internal medicine. 1-2 years experience in a medical office setting preferred but not required. Typing speed 35+ wpm and computer proficiency is a must as the job requires quick and accurate capture of medical information and data entry in EHR system.

Applicant should be fluent in both English and Spanish.

This is an excellent experience for someone whose goal is to become a medical professional. There will be much on the job training for the skill sets below.

The successful applicant will have a Friendly personality with an enthusiasm to learn.

Job Description:

Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the provider, including but not limited to:

Patient chart prep
Collecting patient medical history and physical exam,
Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants.
Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.

Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up

Prepare referral letters as directed by the provider

Dictation/faxing/phone calls and clerical tasks.

Prep Patient Charts for upcoming appointments

SKILL SETS:
The ideal candidate will have strong language skills with the ability to write in both English and Spanish, good typing skills, excellent spelling, grammar, and oral communication. Must be able to listen to complex medical information and summarize in a clear, complete, and concise fashion.

Applicant should also have good computer skills; be able to learn and use all functions of electronic medical records (EMR) and transcription software; Must accurately enter data into a database, search for information, send and receive email and attachments. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
