Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Flower Shop Manager to lead daily operations at our boutique floral shop in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in floral design, retail management, and customer service. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of shop operations, ensuring excellent customer experiences, managing inventory, and leading a team of floral designers and sales associates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the flower shop, including opening/closing procedures.
- Supervise, train, and motivate staff to deliver exceptional service and creative floral arrangements.
- Oversee floral design and quality control to ensure products meet brand standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and manage inventory of flowers, supplies, and gift items.
- Schedule and fulfill custom orders for events such as weddings, funerals, holidays, and corporate functions.
- Maintain a clean, visually appealing, and organized shop environment.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies, including social media, in-store promotions, and community outreach.
- Monitor sales and manage budgets, invoices, and payroll in coordination with ownership.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and local business regulations.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in floral design and retail management (flower shop experience strongly preferred).
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills (e.g., email, inventory software).
- Creative eye for floral design and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred:
- Floral certification or formal training in floral design.
- Knowledge of seasonal flowers and current trends in floral arrangements.
- Local knowledge of the Washington, DC market and event scene.
